  • The Story Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi — repairing broken pottery with gold — the show explores the relationship between gratitude and adversity.

  • The Setting 70 seats in a black box theater in the Mission. Intimate, interactive, and designed to feel like old artistic San Francisco. Premium front-row seating available for those who want the closest view.

Brad Barton

Brad Barton learned his first magic trick at 12. By 15, he was working behind the counter at a Tampa magic shop. By 23, he was the resident magician at the Waldorf Astoria’s Boca Raton Resort. Since Then, he’s performed at Prince’s final Fillmore shows, backstage at Madison Square Garden for Phish, and for the likes of Francis Ford Coppola and Andrew Garfield. His residency at San Francisco’s The Lost Church sold out for over a decade. He also stole the one and only, Tom Wait's watch.

The Gift was ready to open in March 2020. When the world shut down, Brad spent months feeling he’d wasted years of work. But the delay gave him the time to rebuild the show into something more urgent. He moved away from entertainment as just escape from reality, creating a performance that turns toward it.

The result is a show that is funnier, braver, and more vulnerable—a performance that doesn't shy away from the hard stuff while remaining fun as hell.

The Gift is dedicated to Mom & Dad.

The Village….

Thank you!

The Gift is the result of eight years of collaboration with a diverse "village" of over 40 creators. This show was built on the insights of artists, makers, and magicians.

From psychologists to lighting experts and local supporters, these are the people who helped turn a personal vision into a communal reality.

Thank you to the crew who make it possible each and every show!

And to our audience, our final collaborator is you. This show is a community ritual that relies on your stories, your presence, and your willingness to look for the light.
